American Girl Experience Package Westin Memorial City

American Girl Bitty Baby

I was never into dolls as a child. Maybe it was because our neighborhood was full of boys, and when we played it was all Hot Wheels and Star Wars. You could say I was a tomboy, but then its probably safe to say that hasn’t really changed. I’m constantly amazed, and often dumbfounded by how girly my little girl is, compared to me. She’s long hair, and glitter, loves pink & purple, sleeps in dresses when we let her, and loves dolls!

Dolls, I know absolutely nothing about dolls. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Totally not an issue for me, but my 5 year old is all starry eyed over the American Girl catalogs that keep showing up in our mailbox. Every time I find one, I shake my head and wonder which friend decided it would be hilarious to sign me up for them. I am not amused. Although, it is fun to watch her eyes light up as she flips the pages and dreams about which doll she’ll ask Santa to place under our tree.

After skipping a birthday party and spending the day as a family celebrating our son’s third birthday at Schlitterbahn, we’ve decided to do Christmas a little differently this year. Instead of going overboard on presents (yes, I’m guilty), we’re focusing more on family time together and experiences. From looking at Christmas lights, to taking day trips, and having one on one dates with our children, our mission is to create memories that last long after the toys are forgotten.

The American Girl Experience Package from the Westin Houston, Memorial City is the perfect experience for us to share! I can only imagine the look on her face, if I told her we were going to spend the night in a hotel, go shopping at American Girl, swim in the infinity pool, and have a movie night in a bed with pink pillow cases and a bed scarf! I’m not positive, but guessing that would earn me major brownie points towards “Mom of the Year.”

  3. I admire you guys for focusing on experiences rather than gifts, that can be hard to do! The American Girl Experience Package sounds fun! (what’s a bed scarf?)
What doll does McKenzie want? I had Kirsten, not sure if they have the same traditional dolls anymore.

  4. An American Girl doll is on my little girls wishlist this year. They’ve become so popular at school lately, but I can see why. They’re adorable! I love that you’re changing it up this year. We plan on doing that too since I’m another one who sometimes go overboard with gifts for the kiddos. This year we’re teaming up with a friend sending shoe boxes to kids in Mexico. My kids are super excited to help others and pick out gifts for kids who aren’t as fortunate as them.

    • It would be awesome if you and your daughter could travel to Houston and we could do it on the same weekend. We could have a slumber party in one of our rooms! Can you imagine how much the girls would enjoy that?

  5. This sounds awesome! My little girl would love it. She got her own AG doll (Mckenna) for Christmas last year and also has my old Josephina doll. My littlest has a bitty baby. I also have an AG of today and Samatha to hand down to my girls. My oldest loved it when we went to the AG store for tea with their dolls.

  6. I love this idea. My 3 year old was in the American Girl Doll Fashion Show as a VIP Model for Charity this weekend November 16th, for Hits Theater. It was a first class fabulous event and the money all goes to charity. Thanks for sharing, we love all things American Girl Doll.
