A few weeks ago I packed up the kids and headed to California…on a plane! Let’s just say that carrying my normal business gear: laptop, chargers, smartphones, camera mounts, etc. is more than a handful. Now, add to that the clothes for two kids, tablets for both kids, stuffed animals, shoes, and a hundred other things, and I should have trained like a triathlon for this trip. So, even though I might have experienced some involuntary twitching, as I intentionally left my heavy DSLR at home, I was relieved to be packing “light”.
This was the kids first time on an airplane, first visit to California, and first experience at a Disney theme park, which meant I was putting a lot of faith in my Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s camera. But with the quick launch button and 16 megapixel rear camera, I knew it could handle a snap happy Mom like myself.
From selfies on the plane to adventures in the San Diego Safari Park, my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 delivered quality photos for posting on Facebook or printing for the mantle. And, while I can’t say my back isn’t aching…the pain has more to do with carrying around an exhausted forty five pound 5 year old, than lugging around a heavy DSLR.
All photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and only cropped!Usually, I’d add a filter or edit my photos, but want to show you the quality of photos before using editing software! I haven’t spent any time playing with the “pro mode” so all shots were taken in auto…don’t judge me.
The next time you travel, give your smartphone’s camera a chance to capture all the action, and leave your DSLR on the shelf.
