2015 Hyundai Genesis A Next Generation Vehicle

Several years ago, if you’d told me Hyundai was planning to compete in the luxury vehicle segment, I would have laughed. Wait, no, I would have said okay, great, can I sell you an ocean front condo in Arizona? But this January at the Detroit Auto Show, I caught a brief preview of the stunning next Genesis, I realized Hyundai is very serious, and other luxury cars should be worried.

It’s kind of funny how Arizona came to mind, as I was one of a few social media influencers invited to the exclusive media introduction in Scottsdale last weekend. Hyundai paid all expenses, all thoughts and opinions are based on my personal experience. Hyundai introduced the 2015 Hyundai Genesis in style at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa. The Genesis looked right at home among the Arizona red rocks and cacti.

My drive partner, Jasmine, from Simply Real Moms, and I climbed into the sleek Genesis and started making adjustments. I’m used to sitting pretty high in my personal SUV, so I used the 12-way power front seats and adjusted the mirrors. Looking good, and feeling great, it was time to focus on what really matters, finding the perfect XM station to test the GRAMMY Special Merit Award winning Harman Lexicon® audio system.

Seriously, the 14- speaker sound system will blow your mind…or your ears. Check out this video demo by the one and only Derek Deangelis from Fast Lane Daily.

It sounds divine, plus your options for choosing music are almost endless! Luxurious leather seats adjusted. Check. Sound system cranked to optimal level for Pharell’s “Happy”. Check.

It was time to put this “sexy beast” in drive and see how it handles the road. At least, I think we were on the road, according to our 9.2 inch touchscreen nav display we were on asphalt. But the suspension, delivers such a smooth ride that it felt like we were driving on clouds from straight out of a Nintendo game. Floating like a butterfly in the 3.8L AWD with 311hp @ 6,000RPM, reaching the speed limit was quick and effortless. By the way, one of my favorite Hyundai features, is the nav system that displays the speed limit wherever the road takes you. It may seem like a little thing, but I find it super helpful, especially when cruising on unfamiliar roads.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Is Packed With Features Giving You a Big Bang For Your Buck

Speaking of features, the Genesis has everything you could want in a car, and then some. In Detroit, I oohed and ahhed over the smart trunk, an industry first. Finally, an automaker has eliminated the need to balance your child, golf clubs, groceries, etc., while trying to wave your foot under the magic spot to open the trunk. With the keys in your pocket, stand close to the trunk for a few seconds and VOILA, the trunk opens! Genius move Hyundai.

There are seriously so many features, I could talk for days. Hyundai emphasizes safety with distance pacing smart cruise control, automatic emergency breaking (AEB), lane departure warnings, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection. And if you are seriously challenged when in reverse, like myself, you’ll love the blind spot detection/rear cross traffic alert.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Is Smart

A luxury car should make you feel spoiled, and Hyundai has accomplished that with the Genesis Intelligent Assistant® App. It’s the equivalent of having Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. in your car. Nothing makes you feel spoiled, like an assistant that sends you a suggested departure time based on road conditions, to remote start your car so it’s nice and cool inside, or schedule vehicle maintenance from the app.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis’ winged badge reminds me of a Bentley, am I saying the Genesis can compete with one? No, not yet, but I do think the #NextGenesis has earned its wings.

Overall assessment: Powerful. Sexy. Packed with technology for the next generation. Beautiful inside and out. Watch out Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and Cadillac, Hyundai’s ready for the next generation!

  1. Great write-up, Kristin! I never thought of it, but the Genesis Intelligent Assistant® App IS the equivalent of having Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. in your car. Seriously loving the Genesis!

    • Thank you very much! I’m such a fan girl when it comes to Marvel movies and after riding and driving the Genesis, I’m a total fan of the car as well. I think we should borrow one for our epic MLB road trip! Thanks for being my drive buddy.

  2. […] It’s got all the convenience features of a luxury car too, one of my favorites being a trunk that will automatically pop open when you stand next to it for just a few seconds. No balancing on one foot and waving the other under the bumper. There’s also dual temperature control so you don’t have to fight with your passenger, and a 12-way power driver’s seat that’s heated. Yup, it’s all standard on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. […]

  3. I too was surprised when Hyundai made their announcement about their 2015 Genesis. Like a lot of car enthusiast, we were blind to think that Hyundai could punch out an exquisite looking machine. Even though I haven’t had a chance to push a pedal on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, I am sure it is an exhilarating drive.
